LUMENIS ONE IPL HAIR REMOVAL
MesoHealth is pleased to offer Lumenis One IPL Technology for the treatment of unwanted hair. Laser hair removal and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal are the two most popular forms of light-based hair removal.
Light-based hair removal (either laser or IPL) uses light energy to selectively target dark pigment (ie melanin within hair). The dark melanin pigment of the hair absorbs the light energy and converts it into heat energy in a fraction of a second, resulting in destruction of the hair shaft to the level of the follicle.
Hair shafts grow from a hair follicle beneath the skin. All hairs are growing at different stages. Some hair follicles may be in a dormant (resting) phase while other are in a growing phase. Only hair follicles in a growing phase are susceptible to permanent destruction. This is the reason why either laser hair removal or IPL hair removal requires more than one treatment visit. On average, it may take 4-8 treatments to treat an area of concerns. Hair removal treatments are spaced-out about 6-8 weeks apart. This allows more dormant hair follicles to convert into growing phase hair follicles.
The best candidates for successful hair removal are those individuals that have dark hair. The darker the hair, the more melanin pigment there is for the light energy to target.
Most patients describe a treatment to feel like a rubber-band snap. Most individuals tolerate the procedure fine. Aftercare the procedure, there may be some slight redness, but hair removal treatments rarely result in any downtime.
